Wolfspan is an iOS reaction game built around dark atmosphere and split-second decision-making, set against a moonlit northern forest dripping with Norse mysticism. It suits players who want something visually distinct and genuinely tense — the kind of game that rewards focus rather than spending. There are two ways to play: a wave-based endless run and a structured level mode spanning 12 trails with up to three stars each. Everything inside is earned through play alone, with no in-app purchases of any kind.

Inside the Forest

How the Hunt Works

At its core, Wolfspan puts a 4×4 grid of wolf-head icons in front of you and asks a simple question: can you tap them in the right order before the timer runs out? Each wave, a new trail sequence is shown at the top of the screen. Catch the correct wolves in order, build your combo, and survive. Touch the wrong one — a cursed thorn — and you lose a life. Lose all three, and the trail goes cold.

Two modes, one atmosphere

The main menu, called the Den, offers two paths into the game. Enter the Forest drops you into an endless wave-survival run where difficulty compounds with each new wave. Trails & Levels presents 12 structured levels with up to 36 total stars to earn. Both modes feed into the same progression ecosystem: Wolf Coins accumulate based on your score, max combo, wave reached, and whether it's your first run of the day. An Archive of 48 signs to collect and a leaderboard called The Pack round out the reasons to keep coming back.

Style runs deep

The visual language is deliberate throughout. The app icon features a glowing Elder Futhark rune carved into a cracked stone tablet. In-game, wolves come in four distinct colors — cyan, purple, green, and amber — while rare medallion wolves appear framed in gold. Three forest themes shift the mood: Mist, Full Moon, and Blizzard. The settings screen, named Howl, controls difficulty (Easy, Normal, or Hard), ambient forest sound, tap effects, and haptic feedback, which kicks in from Wave 5 onward.

Where the rune meets the grid

That stone-tablet icon — a rune glowing like molten metal against a stormy sky — sets an expectation the gameplay quietly honors. The grid itself behaves like a carved surface waiting to be read: symbols arranged in silence, meaning locked inside sequence and order. Players who've spent time with games built around decoding visual patterns under pressure will find the rhythm here familiar in feel, if not in form. The tension of reading a layout and acting before it resets is the same muscle, just wearing a wolf pelt.

Wolfspan commits fully to its atmosphere — the dark navy palette, the rune iconography, the forest audio — and the no-purchase model means nothing is gated behind a paywall. That said, players sensitive to timed pressure should know the timer is always on: even on Easy, the clock runs. Accessibility coverage is uneven in version 1.0, with some color-dependent UI elements and small touch targets that may cause friction for certain users.

How Wolfspan Works

Does Wolfspan have any in-app purchases?
No — Wolfspan has no in-app purchases and no real-money shop. Everything in the game is unlocked through play, so you never need to spend money to progress.
How does the core gameplay work?
During each wave, a 4×4 grid of colorful wolf icons is displayed and you must tap wolves in the exact order shown at the top of the screen. Tapping the wrong wolf (a 'thorn') costs you a life, and losing all your lives ends the run.
How do I unlock new levels in Trails mode?
Levels in Trails mode are unlocked by completing earlier ones through play. There are 12 levels in total, and each can earn up to 3 stars, giving 36 stars to collect overall.
What difficulty settings does Wolfspan offer?
Wolfspan has three difficulty options — Easy, Normal, and Hard. Normal gives you 3 lives, a steady fall speed, and 20% thorns; Easy is more forgiving with more lives and fewer thorns, while Hard raises the challenge with fewer lives, faster fall speed, and more thorns.
What are Wolf Coins and how do I earn them?
Wolf Coins are an in-game currency earned entirely through play. After each run, coins are calculated based on your final score, whether you hit a combo of 20 or more, the wave you reached, and a ×1.5 bonus multiplier for your first run of the day.

Douze …
