Rush CrystalX Studio is a spirograph application — meaning it produces mathematical curves by simulating a pen tracing the path of a rolling gear inside a fixed outer ring. The visual output ranges from simple five-pointed stars to dense, web-like forms with eleven or more crossing arcs. Every pattern is drawn as a single continuous line, which gives even the most complex results a clean, almost meditative quality.

How the drawing system works

The core of the app is its Parameters screen, organized into two sections: GEARS and INK. Under GEARS, three sliders control the shape of the curve — outer radius (R), rolling gear radius (r), and pen offset (d, shown as a percentage). The INK section adds line thickness and draw speed. A live preview card updates in real time as you drag the sliders, so you can see the pattern forming before committing to it. Once you're satisfied, the main canvas renders the full drawing, with the active parameter values — for example, R 9 · r 5 · d 80% · 8 rev. — displayed as small text below the canvas. Six pen color options are available, ranging from dark burgundy-red through charcoal gray to near-white, plus a Palette from Photo button that imports colors from your camera roll.

Saving and managing your collection

The Gallery screen stores saved drawings in a two-column card grid, with each entry showing the pattern name, its R and r values, and a color indicator dot. Named examples visible in the gallery include Vermillion Rose (R 7, r 3), Five-Point Star (R 5, r 2), and Graphite Web (R 11, r 4). A summary line tracks total revolutions across your collection. Each card has a delete button in the top-right corner.

Where the app's visual world connects to something larger

The consistent background across every screen — a pixel art cityscape with a deep purple sky bleeding into warm orange at the horizon, layered clouds, a mountain ridgeline, and a wooden fence at the foreground — gives Rush CrystalX a distinct atmosphere that feels more like a creative retreat than a utility. That same purple-to-amber dusk palette, dramatic and slightly cinematic, echoes the visual language common in richly illustrated mobile experiences where color does a lot of the emotional heavy lifting. The loading screen itself participates: it animates the spirograph curve being drawn in coral-red as a progress indicator, making even the wait feel intentional.

A real limitation worth knowing

• The six pen color swatches on the Parameters screen have no text labels — they are visual-only circles with no names or descriptions, which is a meaningful gap for users who rely on screen readers or have difficulty distinguishing colors.
• The R — Outer Radius slider does not display a current numerical value, unlike the other sliders which show percentages or numbers.
• The delete buttons on gallery cards are noted as potentially small touch targets.

The parameter system rewards patience — small shifts in the R-to-r ratio produce wildly different curves, and the live preview makes that exploration feel immediate rather than trial-and-error.
