I want to be upfront that I spent a solid two weeks with Crickeriot Shot before writing this, because I think apps like this deserve a fair shake rather than a snap judgment after one session. The core premise — training your shot-selection instincts through interactive scenarios — is genuinely interesting, and in my experience there's a real shortage of apps that try to build game intelligence rather than just reflexes.

The scenario library is the clear highlight. The situations cover a decent range: attacking setups, defensive recovery positions, transition scenarios. Each one comes with a description of what's happening on court, and you have to pick the right shot. The explanations after each decision are where the app earns its keep — they don't just tell you 'wrong,' they walk you through the tactical logic, which is exactly what a thoughtful player wants. The AI Coach feature adds another layer, and while I wouldn't say it replaces a real coach, it does give you something to think about.

Where things get murkier is in the progression system. The XP rewards for challenges feel a bit arbitrary — why does 'Attack Master' give 150 XP while 'Attack Blitz' gives 200, when the difficulty jump seems steeper than that gap suggests? To be clear, this is a minor quibble, but it's the kind of thing that niggles at you after a while. The leaderboard is also a bit sparse right now; it's hard to benchmark yourself against the broader community when the pool seems small.

The Simulation Mode is where I keep coming back. Rapid-fire decision-making under time pressure is genuinely stress-testing, and I find it the most replayable part of the app. The progress tracking across sessions is solid too — you can actually see your accuracy trending over time, which is motivating in a low-key way.

In summary: this is a thoughtful, well-structured training tool for racket sport players who want to sharpen their tactical thinking, with a few rough edges in the progression design that I hope get ironed out in updates.

honestly this review is pretty much how i feel too, like the scenario explanations are SO much better than i expected? i kept thinking it was just going to say 'correct!' or 'wrong!' and move on but it actually tells you WHY and that's the whole point tbh. simulation mode is addictive in a good way :) my only thing is i wish there were more defense scenarios because i feel like most of the stuff is attack-focused and i'm genuinely bad at reading defensive situations so that's what i need to work on the most lol

GrumpyTapper

Leaderboard is EMPTY. Been on it two days and nobody moves. What's the point... App itself is fine but that feature is basically dead right now.

GlitchHunter77

Same observation. Leaderboard pulls from a tiny user base. Checked on iPhone 15 Pro, iOS 17.4. Data loads fine, just nobody there. Core training loop works though. Simulation mode timer is tight enough to be useful.

Hi!! I am new to this app and also new to tennis (I play padel mostly) so maybe I am missing something but — how do you unlock the harder scenarios?? I can see them in the list but some seem locked for me :) I did a few sessions and got to level 2 I think but still not sure what I need to do. Sorry if this is obvious question!!

tara_mobile

tbh i think you just keep completing challenges and your level goes up and that unlocks them? i noticed the same thing when i started, it felt a bit slow at first but once i got a few sessions in more stuff opened up. honestly the app doesn't explain it super clearly though, you kind of have to figure it out which is a bit annoying :)

lena_m2019: how do you unlock the harder scenarios??

From what I can tell, the unlock system is tied to your overall level rather than any single challenge completion. In my experience, doing the Simulation Mode sessions consistently pushed my level up faster than just browsing scenarios. To be clear though, you're right that the app doesn't spell this out anywhere obvious — the onboarding is the weakest part of the UX. It assumes you'll just poke around and figure it out, which works for some people and frustrates others.

GrumpyTapper

No onboarding tutorial AT ALL. Dropped me straight into the menu. Not acceptable for a paid app...

GlitchHunter77

Free download though. No paywall on core features as far as I can tell. Still, a 2-minute walkthrough would cost the dev nothing.

KI-Coach: klingt gut, liefert Standardantworten. Hab dasselbe Feedback dreimal hintereinander bekommen. Bug oder Feature? Unklar.
