Sand Broker is a narrative strategy game set in the atmospheric world of 1920s Egypt, where you play as a shadowy antiquities broker managing a network of scouts, scholars, and treasure hunters. It sits at the crossroads of investigation and risk management — every lead you buy could be gold or a beautiful lie. The game runs fully offline, carries no waiting timers, and delivers no story-interrupting ads. It is built for players who want decisions to matter.
Inside the Game
What's in the Game
In Sand Broker, you occupy the dusty back office of an information dealer somewhere in 1920s Egypt. Torn maps arrive on your desk. Whispered rumors come with a price tag. Your job is not to dig — it is to decide who digs, and whether the lead is worth the cost of sending them.
Eight Regions, Four Archaeologists
The game spans 8 regions of Egypt: Giza, Saqqara, Luxor, the Valley of the Kings, Alexandria, the Western Desert, Dakhla Oasis, and Sinai. Each carries its own climate, dangers, and legends. Into these regions you dispatch one of four distinct archaeologists:
- Nadia Hassan — calm, careful, and methodical
- Yusuf Al-Masri — a desert tracker who knows every dune and caravan track
- Mariam Fahmy — a scholar of inscriptions and ancient texts
- Elias Crow — a greedy foreign adventurer who may not always play fair
Each brings different skills, honesty levels, and reward shares. Choosing the wrong person for the wrong site has consequences.
Investigation and Risk
Expeditions target tombs, temple caches, forgotten settlements, caravan stores, lost libraries, and hidden treasure chambers. Rumors can be true, false, or only partly accurate — the investigation layer asks you to compare sources and judge reliability before committing funds. The artifact collection spans multiple rarity levels, from bronze relics and scarab charms up to legendary objects like the Moon Disk of Thoth. Artifacts can be collected, sold, or preserved.
The Feel of the Reels
The visual world of Sand Broker — golden ankh symbols, winged scarabs, pharaoh masks, and desert sunsets behind pyramid silhouettes — shares a visual language with Egyptian-themed slot games that have long drawn players into this same mythology. The pyramid-shaped reel frame, the turquoise-and-gold color palette, the hieroglyphic borders: it is the same iconography, repurposed here as the wallpaper of a strategy game rather than a casino floor.
What Works and What Doesn't
The absence of ads and timers is genuinely appreciated. The narrative framing gives weight to decisions that most mobile games drain of meaning. That said, the investigation mini-game relies heavily on a color-based hot/cold system — temperature indicators cycling through Burnt, Hot, Warm, and Cool — which creates friction for colorblind players and offers no alternative feedback mode. The information density on expedition screens can also feel dense without a tutorial easing you in.
Sand Broker treats the player as someone capable of being wrong — and that is rarer in mobile gaming than it should be.
