Penalty Coach is a structured training tool for footballers who want to stop guessing and start improving their spot kicks with real data. It works for any level — whether you're a beginner stepping up to the mark for the first time or an experienced player trying to iron out a stubborn weak zone. Every session is logged, analyzed, and turned into a specific next step, so the work you put in between matches actually compounds over time.
At its core, Penalty Coach treats the penalty spot not as a lottery but as a skill with measurable components. After a short onboarding that asks about your dominant foot, experience level, and training goal, the app recommends a starting drill tailored to you. From there, each shot is logged on a 3×3 goal grid — you tap the zone you aimed for and mark the result as a goal, a save, or a miss. The heatmap insight thing is real — I had exactly the same experience. You think you're mixing it up and then the data just quietly tells you that you've been shooting low-left about 70% of the time. Humbling, honestly. What I keep coming back to though is the question of *longevity*. Once the app has profiled your weaknesses and you've worked through the recommended drills, does it keep generating value, or does it plateau into a pretty stats dashboard? Ich nutze die App seit etwa zwei Wochen auf einem iPhone 14 mit iOS 17 und kann bestätigen, dass sie technisch stabil läuft – kein einziger Absturz, keine merklichen Ladezeiten. Was mich aber beschäftigt: Die Daten bleiben lokal auf dem Gerät, was ich grundsätzlich begrüße. Allerdings bedeutet das auch, dass bei einem Gerätewechsel oder einem Backup-Fehler sämtliche Trainingshistorie verloren gehen kann. Für jemanden, der systematisch über Monate trainiert, ist das ein echtes strukturelles Problem. Die Analytik selbst ist durchdacht – das Muster-Erkennen bei schwachen Zonen etwa funktioniert in der Praxis überraschend gut. Aber ohne Cloud-Backup bleibt das alles ein bisschen auf Sand gebaut.

Ehrlich gesagt war ich skeptisch, ob ein 3×3-Raster wirklich genug Differenzierung bietet, aber die Kombination aus Heatmap, Trendkurve und dem automatischen Hinweis auf schwache Muster ist konzeptionell sauber umgesetzt. Der Punkt mit dem fehlenden Cloud-Backup ist allerdings berechtigt – das ist kein Kleinigkeit für ernsthafte Nutzer. Gesamturteil hier: Eine ungewöhnlich substanzielle Trainings-App, die ihren Kern gut beherrscht, aber an den Rändern noch Lücken hat.
