Savage Cluckin has been on my phone for about a week now and I've been quietly debating whether it's worth keeping around. The core loop — running, dodging obstacles, collecting bonuses mid-run — is genuinely solid. Used to play a lot of these endless runner types and most of them either drown you in ads or gate everything behind ridiculous unlock costs. This one feels a bit more generous with its in-run boost selections, which is a nice change. Picking a power-up mid-run and feeling it actually shift your strategy? That part works.
The character unlocks are where I'm a bit torn, though. Some of them look interesting and supposedly come with unique abilities, but the grind to actually get them feels longer than it used to in similar games. Back when I played stuff like this a couple years ago, you'd unlock a new character after maybe a week of casual play. Here it feels like the goalposts keep moving. Maybe I'm just not chasing achievements hard enough — the ranking and achievement system is there, and it does give you something to work toward.
Speed scaling is real and it does ramp up fast. That's both the fun and the frustration. The further you go, the more satisfying the run feels, but one bad wall or spike and you're back at zero. No mid-run checkpoints from what I can tell, which is a deliberate design choice but also the kind of thing that separates players who are patient from those who aren't.
Overall it's a decent time-killer with more depth than it looks. Not sure it's pulling maximum value out of what it's offering though. Anyone else finding the character unlock pace fair, or does it feel like a slow burn to you too?
