okay so i've been messing around with fruit cocktail jackpot for a few days now and... it's kind of hard to explain exactly how i feel about it. the gyroscope controls are genuinely fun — tilting your phone to steer the apple around feels really responsive, way smoother than i expected from something this simple. and the 60-second rounds are perfect for when you just want to kill a minute or two without committing to anything big...

but here's the thing, after maybe a dozen rounds i started wondering — is that kind of... all there is? you collect lemons, you beat your score, you check the leaderboard, and then you do it again. the loop is satisfying in a little burst-y way, but it doesn't really pull you back the way i hoped it would. the jungle visuals are pretty though, really clean and easy on the eyes, which i appreciate a lot actually.

the leaderboard is a nice touch, seeing your top 5 scores laid out with timestamps gives it that small competitive edge. i just wish there was maybe more variety in what you're chasing... like different fruits or obstacles or something to shake things up a little. it scratches the reflex itch for sure, but the novelty wears off faster than i'd like.

Gyroscope controls only. No button fallback. That's a problem for users without a working sensor.

Gyro calibration is off on some devices. Samsung Galaxy S22, Android 14. Apple drifts left constantly even on flat surface. Not a user error. Bug.

oh interesting... i hadn't noticed drift on mine but i'm on a fairly recent phone so maybe that's why. if it's drifting on a galaxy s22 that's kind of a big deal though, that's not an obscure device at all. makes me wonder if the calibration just assumes a certain sensor baseline and then...

Confirmed on OnePlus too. Drift is REAL. Dev needs to add a calibration step at launch. Basic fix.

gyro works fine on my end tbh. pixel 7, no issues. game is just... small. one fruit type, one level. wish there was more 🍋

leaderboard is local only right? no global ranking. kind of defeats the point for me. still fun for 5 minutes tho 👍

Correct. Local scores only. No cloud sync. No global board. Confirmed by checking network traffic. Zero outbound calls for score data.

yeah that's kind of a bummer honestly... a global leaderboard would make the whole high-score chase feel so much more meaningful. right now you're only really competing with yourself, which is fine i guess, but the app seems like it was designed to be more social than that. still, for a quick daily reflex check it does what it says it does — just don't expect it to keep you hooked for long.
